A Poem From A Shelter Dog

I must say this almost made me cry. Almost ten years ago I walked into an animal shelter in Colorado. Jasper now Dakota was going to be euthanized later that day. His kennel card read he was aggressive with dogs and cats, was not good with children, and needed to be an only dog in a single persons home with no kids! Talk about having all odds against you. When I passed his kennel he whined and whined and for some reason I had to meet him. When I sat in a room with him for a while he didn’t want anything to do with me! I wanted him! The shelter wasn’t so sure but I convinced them to give him a chance! He is sixteen now and lives with two other dogs, loves kids, and has been the best dog in the world. It shows you all it takes is a good owner! Adopt a dog!
